Commonwealth Home Support Programme aged care services 2020–21

The Commonwealth Home Support Programme (CHSP) provides entry-level support for older people so that they can continue to live independently at home.

This program, effective from 1 July 2015, integrates various services previously providing basic home support (including the Commonwealth Home and Community Care program, National Respite for Carers, Day Therapy Centres and Assistance with Care and Housing for the Aged). From 1 July 2018, the Home and Community Care program in Western Australia transitioned to the CHSP.

The following dashboard presents key figures on the characteristics of people using CHSP, as well as information on the programs provided under the CHSP including financial and time expenditure.

For a downloadable summary of the information in this topic, including additional data on services, funding and costs, view the Commonwealth Home Support Programme (CHSP) fact sheet.
