Report on the Operation of the Aged Care Act (ROACA) Data Cubes

Author:

Released:

Summary

The ROACA report is an annual report on the operation of the Aged Care Act 1997. To supplement the information in the report, the AIHW has developed a set of data cubes that provide additional and more detailed information. Three data cubes are currently available: The first contains information on the number of operational home care packages that were being provided as at 30 June 2015; the second information on operational residential care places as at 30 June 2015; and the third describes the number of people in permanent or respite care, and selected characteristics, at 30 June 2015.

These cubes draw data from the AIHW National Aged Care Data Clearinghouse, and additional to these basic counts, users can tabulate these data by particular state or territory or Aged Care Planning Regions (ACPR), by age, sex, Indigenous status, country of birth, provider type and program type.

Note that minor differences may exist between the data contained in the data cubes and that published in the ROACA report. While both sources derive from an administrative data set used to manage aged care services in Australia, these data are subject to updates and minor corrections, which may result in differences between the two data sources over time.
