Aged care data snapshot—2024

This snapshot of data from the Department of Health and Aged Care provides key figures about aged care in the 2023–24 financial year up to 30 June 2024 and is a companion to the upcoming 2023–24 Report on the Operation of the Aged Care Act 1997.

The third and final release (18/11/2024) completes the Aged Care Data Snapshot 2024, and adds residential care data, expenditure data and assessments and approvals data, in addition to data provided in the second release. 

Previous releases have included:

• The first release (08/10/2024) provided population data, Home Support data and information on places, providers and services in selected programs (residential aged care, Home Care Packages, Restorative Care [Transition Care and Short-Term Restorative Care], and the flexible aged care programs).
• The second release (30/10/2024) provided information on Aged Care client summary data, Home Care, Transition Care and Short-Term Restorative Care data, in addition to the content provided in the first release.

• 25/11/2024 – The second release published on 31/10/2024 and the third release published on 18/11/2024 had incorrectly labelled the CALD and non-CALD results in the Short Term Restorative Care worksheet. The CALD results were reported under non-CALD and vice versa. These have been corrected in the second and third releases. This correction does not impact the first release.
